Zeds Dead is an electronic duo from Toronto, Ontario, composed of DC and Hooks. DC and Hooks have been producing together since 2004, formerly as Mass Productions. Most of their influences are outside of the Dubstep world- lots of hip-hop, classic rock, and stuff like that… In the summer of 2009, DC and Hooks launched Zeds Dead. Zeds Dead played their first live set at The Social in Toronto on June 11, 2009. In September 2010, they founded a weekly party at the Toronto Venue 751 called Bassmentality. Then that moved to Wrongbar in November 2010. How did they get their name? Hooks- “Well it’s a line from Pulp Fiction, but that’s not how we came up with it.” DC- “We were brainstorming, using the first letters of our name. My name is Dylan, and his name is Zack. We went back and forth, ‘Zack, Dylan… Z, D, D, Z… Zed, Dead, Zeds Dead,’ and it just rolled off the tongue.” Now Zeds Dead rolls off the tongue of many, across the country. Like many artist what motivates them are the fans dancing and having a great time when their music is playing. The two of them are some of the hardest workers in electronic music, their tireless effort have earned them an outstanding reputation amongst a new generation of producers. With all these originals and remixes set to be released, DC and Hooks show no signs of slowing down any time soon!
